Tractors

Ian enjoys maintenance and home improvement jobs around the house and collects a variety of tools to make his life a little easier.  We are now a two-tractor family as Ian became the proud owner of a new Simplicity tractor which has a bucket loader at the front and a mower bed underneath. We used this very productively last year to move, load, scrape and level tons of earth and rocks around our property.  Ian has created some new lawn areas, by raising and leveling the ground, and supported them with rock retaining walls; he is attempting to alleviate drainage problems, by placing crushed rocks over the muddy banks leading down to the brook. Next year he intends to cover these rocks with gravel, dirt fill, and finally good loam, and bring it back to lawn.   None of this would be possible without this amazing new tractor!  Ian has also used the new tractor to move snow around the yard. He built Dominic and his friends a huge pile of snow that the kids used to make a snow fort.  Ian may yet have a new career!

The other smaller tractor is used for a variety of tasks. It is now mostly used to clear the driveway of snow. It has a 20 HP engine and a 48 inch two stage snow thrower which can throw snow about 50 feet and is rated to be able to move a ton of snow a minute.
